For some time now, stainless steel appliances have been the leading design choice for modern kitchens. They’re bright, stylish and basically go with everything. But they also have their drawbacks (fingerprints, anyone?). That’s why we’re excited that there’s a new trend emerging that’s giving stainless steel a break from its throne. Yes, we are talking about white appliances.
Modern Kitchen Appliance Trends
These devices are anything but ancient. They no longer look like what you found in your mother’s old suburban house. These white appliances give the kitchen a modern update – everything clean and white, from the interior to the cafe-inspired brass details and of course a touch of the retro (but completely silly) Smeg appliances.
Timeless Kitchen Trends To Inspire Your Next Makeover

Scroll on for inspiration for your own kitchen update, and trust us, these white appliances will make you want to throw away that old stainless steel immediately.
Unlike bedrooms or living rooms, kitchens are easy to keep neutral. This color palette gives the white fridge a fresh look with black, cream and rustic silver. In addition, the exposed wooden beams and the frame around the windows bring an element of nature that does not match such a modern design.
White appliances give off the appearance of cleanliness (even if you haven’t cleaned the surface in weeks). This kitchen does just that with all-white cabinets, an antique white Smeg refrigerator, and a simple (but oh-so-stylish) minicircle backsplash. Is it clean, is it dirty? We’ll never know for sure.
Kitchen Design Trends 2023 — Kitchen World
In an increasingly modernized world of interior design, it’s sometimes difficult to find the right balance between modern and artisanal. This kitchen somehow manages to do that. The all-white interior is incredibly modern, but the statement lights, patterned floor runner, wooden floors and lots of plants in wicker baskets somehow make it cozier and cozier.
A sleek white kitchen with minimal accents is always a beautiful sight for us. We love how the white island, upper cabinets, drawers, and double-door refrigerators allow for a larger look, while the black backsplash and black countertops help build the space. The open panels of the upper cabinets display some select dishes and small amounts of decoration displayed in the room prove that a simple color palette is a good way to go.
A few years ago, it seemed like we couldn’t go anywhere without being bombarded by subway tiles. Now, it is considered an absolute classic. Here, the white stove and small countertop appliances pair perfectly with the white tile in a way that feels thoroughly modern.
Speaking of tiles, white isn’t the only way to go. Here, we like the idea of coordinating a colorful graphic print background with white accents: from the large countertop with the stove to the small plants and upper cabinets. The power flow feels cool, not as overwhelming as some of the graphics cards seem.
Kitchen Décor Trends & Tips For 2023
Sometimes it’s hard to think of kitchen palettes as neutral, especially when you’re working with white appliances. But bright colors, especially on cabinets and walls, can be just as great. This rich emerald green color is perfect for adding elegance and intrigue to a neutral scheme.
There seems to be an unwritten rule that all teams must be the same color. But we say: break the rules. Why not mix white appliances with black and stainless steel? This kitchen wouldn’t have the same atmosphere if it weren’t for the contrast between the cream fridge and the black oven.
It’s true what they say: what’s old will be new again. Vintage styles and textures are a staple that many embrace, in more ways than one. This elegant European-inspired kitchen has dozens of beautiful and purposeful features that we can’t help but admire, but the kitchen stove is really the star of the show. Made in Italy, and with the perfect dose of nostalgia, the white stoves prove just how classic white appliances can be.
When in doubt, bleach everything (or at least, mostly). Every touch of this kitchen is placed with this intention: from the subway tiles to the double-door refrigerator located in the center of the back wall, the oven and the cabinets. Apart from the blue floor unit and some hardware options, all you can see is white.
Kitchen Planning: 10 Tips For Choosing Kitchen Appliances
We fully understand that finding an attractive looking white appliance is easier said than done. That’s why we love the simplicity of this hidden refrigerator: French door appliances are hidden behind white paneled cabinets. A pretty cool party trick if you ask us.
There’s something about white that pairs perfectly with brass, gold and silver details. That’s why this kitchen works so well. White combined with black and silver range creates an already polished look, but combined with brass and copper kitchen accessories hanging above? It seems expensive to upgrade without much effort.
Who says stoves and refrigerators are the only appliances allowed? This matching microwave oven and stove radiate a cool white tone that unifies the kitchen space. Add a gray and white chevron tile backsplash and the results speak for themselves.
Granite countertops are no longer king. Now, it’s all about the meatballs and the bullets. We tend to go for the latter, especially against polished white cabinets, white French-door refrigerators, and natural wood floors.
These 9 Kitchen Trends Are Here To Stay
Early 2000s maple or oak cabinets and white appliances are easy to autowire. But that’s nothing in a kitchen with mixed wood, open shelving and chrome accents. We love the display of wicker plates and baskets, and naturally the white fridge is the perfect addition to the cozy yet bright vibe this kitchen exudes.
An all-white kitchen stands out on its own, and we love how white appliances look when juxtaposed against a dark background. This old-school tile that makes up an entire wall in this kitchen creates the perfect backdrop for white cabinets and a retro-style refrigerator. The other white elements in this room receive the same treatment: the white ceiling combined with the exposed wooden beams and the island with the brown wicker chairs create the most impressive contrasts.
With white appliances back in style, why not show them off? With a bottom freezer and brass handles, this stylish two-door fridge is perfect for display and doesn’t draw attention as it’s surrounded by delicate white cabinetry. It really is a piece you don’t want to take your eyes off.
When working with a transitional space, white accessories can serve as a great opportunity to tie themes and palettes together. This kitchen serves as a workspace and has a long table, a green sideboard converted into a practical sink and, of course, a white Smeg fridge that doesn’t look any different. An added abstract wire lamp in black is an extra lovely touch.
